Benguet
– Salad Bowl of the Philippines
The high altitude
location of the province is very ideal for growing almost
all types of upland vegetables. With this, Benguet received
the title, “Salad Bowl of the Philippines”.
Most of the vegetable supply in Metro Manila comes from
the province. Aside from being the source of fresh vegetables,
Benguet has become the getaway of local and foreign
tourists who would like to cool down and escape the
scorching heat of the summer sun.

Strawberry Farm and Strawberry
picking
A trip to Benguet is not complete without stopping
by the strawberry farm at La Trinidad. During harvest
seasons, tourist can pick out the strawberries and
have a taste of this well-loved fruit.
Kabayan
Mummies
There are two burial sites at Benguet. These are the
Tinongchol Burial Rock, Timbac Caves, and Opdas Cave.
Here, century-old mummies were kept in huge jars or
makeshift coffins. The mummification practice by the
ancestors made it possible for some cadavers to remain
intact; some have their tattoos evident up to now.
Mount Pulag
The highest mountain peak in Luzon serves as the sanctuary
of many species of highland flora and fauna.
Kennon Road
Popularly know as the zig-zag road, this long stretch
of cemented and asphalted road is the pathway towards
Benguet and Baguio City.

Motorists passing by Halsema Mountain Highway can’t
help it but stop and admire the neatly planted vegetables

Airstrip
Location: Kibungan, Benguet
The air strip was used by the American forces as their
base and a starting point for their air assaults during
the World War II.
Camp Utopia
Location: Kapangan, Benguet
The camp was used by the 66th Infantry Battalion during
World War II.
Darew Ancient
Ruins of Civilization
Location: Kapangan, Benguet
The ruins were of the earliest known settlements of
the ancestors of the locals of Benguet.
Kaliwaga
Cave
Location: Kapangan, Benguet
This cave served as the burial place of the British
soldiers who came to Benguet in the 15th century.
Guerilla
Saddle
Location: Km 26, Halsema Mountain Highway, Buguias,
Benguet
Forces of the Japanese Imperial Army and the local guerillas
shed their blood here during the World War II. When
the dust settled, the Igorot freedom fighters claimed
sweet victory.
Hill World War II
Location: Mankayan, Benguet
The site marks the place where the 66th Infantry Battalion
and guerillas fought to make their way to Besang Pass.
The capture of Hill WW II paved the way for the Igorot
freedom fighters and US forces to constantly attack
the Japanese Imperial.

the Highest Mountain Highway System
Location: Atok, Benguet
The highest mountain highway system in the country at
7,400 feet above sea level.
Kennon Road
Location: Benguet Province
Popularly know as the zig-zag road, this long stretch
of cemented and asphalted road is the pathway towards
Benguet and Baguio City. The road gives travelers a
scenic view filled with lush greenery. At times, the
road is filled with fog especially during the latter
part of the year.
Lion’s
Head
Location: Kennon Road, Benguet
This 40-foot lion’s head sculpture has become
one of the most photographed landmarks in Benguet. This
sculpture was made from a limestone boulder made by
local Benguet artisans in 1972.
Madaymen
Location: Kibungan, Benguet
A vegetable growing area is known as the "Switzerland
of Benguet." There is frosting during the cold
months and children leave water and sugar out overnight
to make icicles.

Motorists passing by Halsema Mountain Highway can’t
help it but stop and admire the neatly planted vegetables
at the roadside. Vegetables include cabbage, Baguio
beans, and carrots.

Mount Kabunian
Location: Bakun, Benguet
This rocky mountain stretches for kilometers displaying
its multifaceted profile. Locals believe that the mountain
is the dwelling place of Igorot gods.
Tinongchol
Burial Rock
Location: Kabayan, Benguet
People during the olden times bore holes on the rock
to serve as their burial site for their ancestors. Until
now, these century-old mummies are kept at the burial
rock towering as high as a three-storey building.
Timbac Cave
Location: Kabayan, Benguet
The cave is another urial site at the province. This
can be reached by hiking from KM 52 of Halsema Mountain
Highway.
Opdas Cave
Location: Kabayan, Benguet
It is considered as one of the biggest burial caves
in the municipality. Here, 200 skulls and bones are
neatly piled similar to the catacombs in Rome.
Apo Anno
Cave
Location: Brgy. Natubleng, Buguias, Benguet
For over 80 years, locals search for the remains of
the famed 12th century mighty hunter of Benguet. It
was discovered at this cave at once the remains of Apo
Anno was found, it was given a hero’s welcome,
Mount Pulag
Location: Kabayan, Benguet
The highest mountain peak in Luzon serves as the sanctuary

at an altitude of 9,640 feet above sea level.
Mount Santo

Location: Tuba, Benguet
An 18-kilometer rugged road leads to the peak which
offers a view of the most significant sunrises and sunsets,
and a clear view of the Lingayen gulf. It is ideal for
picnics and out-of-town excursions
Mount Ugo
Location: Brgy. Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet
This cloud-covered mount at the eastern bottom of Benguet
rises to 2,150 meters or 6,450 feet above sea level.
It is fast becoming a new favorite destination of mountaineers
from Metro Manila and locally based outdoor organizations.

four provinces: Benguet, Mountain Province, Kalinga-Apayao
and Ifugao with the enactment of Republic Act No. 4695.
